Project scope

The project involved expanding and retrofitting truck loading platforms fitted with articulated top-loading arms. The coordinated model connected the structural steel additions, access stairs, operating platforms and loading equipment within the existing fuel distribution facility.

My contribution
  • Modelled and coordinated the proposed structural steel additions
  • Reviewed interfaces between the existing structure, access elements and loading equipment
  • Verified operational clearances, safe access and constructability within the BIM environment
  • Prepared model-based quantity take-offs for structural steel sections, lengths and weights
THE CHALLENGE

Make technical complexity understandable.

Integrate new structural and operational components into an existing fuel loading facility while preserving equipment clearances, safe operator access and constructability.

THE APPROACH

Coordinate information around the decision.

The existing and proposed elements were coordinated in one BIM environment, with the expansion highlighted for technical review and model schedules used to support the structural steel quantity take-off.
